Regional Business Development Manager

Annabel Bowden

Annabel is an ex sixth form teacher and SENCO with 16 years education sector experience. She has extensive knowledge and expertise relating to special educational needs, both in mainstream and specialist provisions. She is also an experienced Team-Teach instructor and regularly delivers the 2 day training to ensure that staff are suitably qualified for the role they are carrying out. Team-Teach is a holistic approach to behaviour management and encourages the use of verbal de-escalation, divert and distraction techniques. The course also covers elements of physical intervention that can be utilised as a last resort. She is passionate about the inclusion, learning and development of those with SEN and transforming the lives and opportunities for young people. You are most likely to hear Annabel say, ‘Did you know my sister is the Headteacher at Arlies Primary School in Stalybridge!’

Office Manager

Lisa Cantwell

Lisa brings to Castles Education a wealth of experience from an educational background. Having worked in both primary and secondary education sectors, Lisa has experience in administration and pastoral roles and secretarial, administration and complaints resolution tasks in local government. Lisa has responsibility for compliance, vetting and payroll. At weekends she can be found walking her dogs in the Cheshire countryside or cheering loudly at her sons' basketball games.

Lead Primary Consultant

Mathew Hamrouni

A specialist in primary education recruitment with a demonstrated record of success having worked with primary schools across all of the Greater Manchester authorities over the past five academic years. Mathew is a graduate of The University of Leeds. He is passionate, ambitious and driven and this has led to his colleagues and candidates describing him as a pioneer of high service standards and a capable leader with engaging charisma. Having been raised by his mother who is an experienced primary school teacher and SENCO, Mathew has some insight into the importance of a healthy work / life balance for educational professionals. An avid socio-political campaigner and volunteer Mathew likes to get involved with charities in his local community and has previously volunteered with St Ann's Hospice, The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network and The Royal School for the Deaf.

Regional Director

Kim Hinchliffe

Kim has 11 years’ experience in education recruitment, working her way up from Recruitment Consultant to Senior Manager positions. For the last 5 years she has specifically been working with SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units & Alternative provisions, becoming heavily involved with her client schools – undertaking the role of School Governor at one, and raising £1000 for another by doing the Coast to Coast walk just to name a couple of examples! An accredited Moving & Handling trainer, Kim regularly delivers training to our registered Teachers & Teaching Assistants who will be working in schools for pupils with PMLD/Physical Disabilities. Having taken up the role of Regional Director, Kim still loves being very much on the ‘front line’ of the business, with her own portfolio of clients and candidates that she manages. In her spare time, Kim is kept very busy with her young son as well as regularly singing with the Manchester Show Choir, which fundraises for the Christie Hospital.

Colin Short

Colin is an ex-headteacher in Greater Manchester with over 25 years of teaching and school leadership experience. After completing a degree at Salford University Colin went on to gain the National Professional Qualification for Headship and a Master’s Degree from Manchester University in Educational Leadership. Working with many education professionals and schools from across the country Colin is keen to develop the school improvement arm of Castles. He is working with a number of academies to apply for grant funding and condition improvement fund submissions via the Education Funding Agency.

Dean Thomas-Lowde

Dean was previously an assistant headteacher in a school that was placed in special measures. Here Dean led on projects involving pupil voice, stakeholder involvement, equality and middle management. It was this in depth experience that encouraged Dean to establish his own consultancy group, The Thomas-Lowde Group. Dean was then appointed a Partner of Castles Education in July 2017. Dean has a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management and is a ’Teaching Leaders’ (Ambition School Leadership) Fellow. Dean enjoys sharing his leadership journey and encouraging others to find the leader within, as well as promoting parental involvement within education. Now in charge of our graduate training programme Dean is on a one man mission to solve the perceived teacher shortage crisis. If he is not working in schools or with graduates, you’ll probably find him taking part in the human science dissection event that is Anatomy Lab Live.

James Tipping

James is an ex-deputy headteacher of a large secondary school. He has significant expertise in academy conversion, HR, performance management, self-evaluation, quality assurance, whole school action plans, data analysis, governance and leadership development at all levels. He is particularly keen to support schools in challenging circumstances and has a wealth of experience supporting schools to move out of special measures. When he is not writing whole school action plans, James is on a one man mission to eat in every restaurant in Manchester.

Branch Manager - London Divison

Kelly Woollard

Kelly has over 10 years of education recruitment experience across London & Manchester. Having started her career, as a trainee consultant in London she became branch manager before moving to Manchester 2 years ago, to be closer to her daughter. Kelly now heads up our London division where she supports a varied client base of SEND & mainstream schools across London. Her passion for SEND recruitment stems from her background as a youth worker within inner London city gang culture, working with teenagers in the care system as well as her brother being diagnosed with autism. With this knowledge, background & experience, you are in safe hands with Kelly as candidates & schools trust her & come back to her for placements & recruitment solutions. Kelly is trained in Makaton & Team Teach. Out of the office, Kelly loves to travel & can often be found exploring new cultures across the world. One day she hopes to drive across route 66 and Australia in a big rig truck!! Our lady of the road.
