We recognise at Castles Education that early years teaching is an art.
Whilst studying hard can prepare you to be a good teacher, we look for several characteristics that are inherent to making a great preschool teacher. We take applications seriously and work to ensure our candidates are partnered with appropriate schools and academies.
On interview we are careful to explore the characteristics that we are important to any teacher embarking into a career is this sector of education.
Do you have a burning desire to make a real difference in the lives of young children? You need a true passion for educating young children and a positive drive can help to get you through the hard times.
As well as a burning passion for teaching, great preschool educators need plenty of patience. Most classes have students with different developmental skills. It is your responsibility to mould young children, to have excellent manners, good hygiene and to follow classroom procedures that are part of a typical school day. Working with demanding administrators, difficult parents or other teachers requires additional patience outside the classroom.
Creativity in the classroom is more than making fun art projects for your students or having colourful wall displays. Your class may require creativity on your part to teach children from different cultures or backgrounds. You may also need to draw from your creative side to take risks and make decisions outside the norm in the best interest of your students.
Early years teachers are flexible when dealing with change, they can handle almost anything. The very nature of teaching young children requires constant fine tuning and dealing with minor issues.
Great preschool teachers are dedicated to their students and their career. Moreover, excellent educators are dedicated to the love of learning and inspire their students to learn more. At the preschool level, making the classroom a place where learning is fun can resonate with children for the rest of their lives.
