Children have naturally inquisitive minds and are curious about the world around them. They love to explore, investigate and discover through play, and instinctively like to question ‘why’.
The natural desire to learn in this way is often lost over time however, with many approaching scientific subjects at school with trepidation, believing them to be too difficult or dull. With your help, we want to challenge these misconceptions and re-capture that child-like approach to learning.

At Castles Education, we are looking for incredible science teachers who have the ability to reignite curiosity and motivate pupils in their exciting quest for answers. We are currently recruiting across London, Manchester and the wider northwest, for both short and long term supply vacancies.
If you want more flexibility, variety and autonomy in your career, then supply teaching could be the solution. You will have the opportunity to focus on your specialist subject without the added pressures that a permanent role can bring. Supply work offers much greater freedom than a traditional teaching role and you will have more scope to bring your own creativity and ideas into the classroom.
Whether you are new or returning to the profession, are thinking of retirement or looking to reduce your hours, supply work is a great option. It can also help you learn more about an area if you are relocating and is an ideal way for students to gain experience for their PGCE application or to financially support further study.
Working with Castles Education on a supply basis will provide you with the chance to work in a variety of schools but with one point of contact and one payroll system, so that your payments are prompt and reliable.
There are not enough great science teachers out there and not enough young people leaving school with an ambition or plan to pursue a career in science. At Castles Education, we believe all children should have access to the very best teachers in every subject to open doors and create possibilities, which is why we need to hear from you.
Science lessons should be some of the most fun and interesting in the school timetable so we want brilliant, motivated teachers who truly love their subject and can inspire others to do the same.
As a science teacher you will lead your pupils on a journey of discovery, stretching their minds and broadening their horizons. You will be able to actively demonstrate
how science is a major catalyst for progress and development and introduce your pupils to different scientific concepts with engaging and interactive experiments.
You must also keep your classroom and laboratory safe for pupils at all times and need to be comfortable taking on this responsibility.
To be a successful and in-demand supply teacher, you also need to be efficient, reliable and punctual with an ability to adapt to different situations. You must be able to quickly build a rapport with your pupils, and communicate effectively with young people of varying abilities and from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
As with all jobs working with young people, you will also be required to hold a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) background check. If you don’t already have one then you must be prepared to apply for one, as this is a standard and legal requirement when working with anyone under the age of 18.
As specialist recruitment consultants to the education sector, the team at Castles Education has more than 50 years of teaching experience and understands fully the needs and requirements of schools, pupils and teachers. We have excellent connections with schools across the UK and are the first choice for many schools and colleges when they are looking for specialist supply teachers of the highest calibre.
We will utilise our extensive knowledge and expertise to support you in your job search and throughout the application process, to ensure everything is as straight forward as possible for you.
At Castles Education, we are committed to the education and well-being of all children and young people and pride ourselves on our ability to place the right professionals in each role, to best support young people in their learning and to provide a happy working environment for all of our teachers.
