Castles Education are looking to recruit SEND (special education needs and disabilities) teaching assistants for a primary SEND school within Croydon, South East London.
The school requires several teaching assistants to start with them from the 19th February 2018 on a full time basis.
This primary school is a SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) primary school whose students have been diagnosed with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and severe learning difficulties. They currently have 17 small classes of children, up to 8 in a class, with a minimum of 3 support staff and will be expanding in 2018. In their recent OFSTED report they were awarded a Good grade and are working towards becoming an outstanding SEND school in the future.
Due to the size of the school and the proposed growth, this school is always needing supply staff, both for day to day and for long term roles. Many supply staff have become permanent staff members. Staff enjoy working at this primary school as it has a strong forward thinking management team and the emphasis clearly is on the children’s development and needs.
The school is very accessible by public transport but does have car park facilities as well.
Daily pay rate is between £60 and £70 a day depending on experience. These roles will become permanent for the right member of staff.
To work within this school you will need;
• A level 2 or above teaching assistant qualification or
• At least 6 months relevant experience in supporting children or adults with ASD
• Have an enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be prepared to carry out a new DBS
• Be able to work 8.30 – 3.30 daily
• Have a passion for working within SEND, additional training in Makaton, PECS and Team Teach would be an advantage but not essential.
• Comfortable carrying out personal care for students which includes toileting and feeding.
• Be looking to make a real positive impact as part of a team.
