The role of a SEND Teaching Assistant is varied, challenging and interesting. It is perfect for graduates who are considering (or have already secured) a PGCE course, or another route to obtain UK Qualified Teacher Status. It is also a great way for other professionals (sports coaches, drama coaches, singing tutors, etc) to earn extra money outside of their core hours.
We are currently working in partnership with a Secondary SENCO in Oldham, who is looking to add a capable, confident SEND Teaching Assistant to their team. This assignment will run for the full academic year. The main responsibility of your role will be to provide a positive influence to disengaged Key Stage 3 and 4 students who display challenging behaviours, and are highly disengaged with learning. This particular role would suit a Psychology graduate who is looking to supplement their undergraduate studies with practical experience before going onto either further studies (post graduate), or a more specialised field of behavioural psychology.
Whilst the work is not easy – you will gain so much experience, know-how and most importantly, practice which can supplement your other work, or teaching studies.
