Castles Education are assisting a secondary SEND school in Greenwich, South East London, with their day to day teaching assistant staffing needs.
This secondary school is a SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) school whose students have been diagnosed with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder), PMLD (Profound and Multiple Disabilities), Medical needs and Severe Learning Difficulties. The school has a number of classes specifically for ASD students, a residential unit, outreach and are looking to expand again in 2018.
In their recent OFSTED report they were awarded a Good grade and are working towards becoming an outstanding SEND school in the future.
Due to the size of the school and the proposed growth, this school is always needing supply staff, both for day to day and for long term roles. Many supply staff have become permanent staff members. Staff enjoy working at this primary school as it has a strong forward thinking management team and the emphasis clearly is on the children’s development and needs.
The school is very accessible by public transport but does have car park facilities as well.
Daily pay rate is between £60 and £70 a day depending on experience.
To work within this school you will need;
• A level 2 or above teaching assistant qualification
• At least 6 months relevant experience in supporting children or adults with ASD, PMLD within a SEND setting.
• Have an enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be prepared to carry out a new DBS
• Be able to work 8.30 – 3.30 daily
• Have a passion for working within SEND, additional training in Makaton, PECS and Team Teach would be an advantage but not essential.
• Be looking to make a real positive impact as part of a team.
