Improving Teaching Staff Morale

With the wellbeing of all staff becoming increasingly focused upon. Here at Castles, we believe staff wellbeing is a top priority among schools today, as its seen to provide effective learning and can help build upon relationships between staff and students.

Many different types of mental issues can cause obstacles between staff and students which can prevent effective learning from taking place in the school environment. However there are many factors which can be looked upon to ensure that both staff and students are relaxed and stress free in the school climate. As many techniques are available that have been tried and tested which have been proven to work among students and staff such as simple breathing exercises, and meditation. These have all proven to contribute towards people helping to further manage their stress levels.

With evidence being shown for schools taking measures to ensure staff are looked after, the schools are also making sure that positive skills go on to have an impact on both staff and students as well as the school climate. At Castles, we believe that helping follow an improvement strategy to go on to tackle mental issues and to support a positive wellbeing helps assist staff to learn and develop their own existing skills on the area. Support and training for staff wellbeing is a great response to mental health issues and is essential for their own wellbeing, performance and long term health. Therefore to understand these types of issues can help reduce the overall number of risks that can affect wellbeing and help students develop the resilience to overcome adverse circumstances. Also ensuring that an ethos exists that promotes wellbeing, resilience and positive skills has been proven to of been able to further improve upon individual and school performance.

Helping to support a student’s problem without the skills, time or credibility to do anything impacts staff emotional wellbeing. But sometimes throughout staff team sessions, learning how to protect and promote their own wellbeing can give staff a more effective approach to how they carry out their work and give them a new found sense of motivation and confidence. Normally when this is done through the long term it eventually builds into the school culture and becomes a fixed area which can be a very positive effect on both students and staff.

At Castles, we believe it is very important to maintain a healthy and safe teaching environment, whilst improving staff motivation and efficiency, which are critical issues for school leaders as they directly impact on levels of pupil attainment. With the hope that students are supported in order to create a sustainable and manageable response to the emotional wellbeing and mental health needs to both students and staff. Also providing a solid basis of positive work to help promote wellbeing and help prevent any possible problems or issues can help with any problems regarding issues with mental health problems among children and young people.

An important area for Castles surrounds raising awareness with staff about the nature of supporting a healthy wellbeing that can be used to spot any mental health problems in students or other members of staff. This all comes down to part of the school’s responsibility, as we believe the best possible thing for students in the school environment is to have happy well-motivated staff. This requires senior leaders to create and sustain an environment where students are able to build emotional resilience, and develop self-confidence in which from this the hopes is for everyone to support their own wellbeing.

The whole school action plan which we believe is an essential school improvement to help with overall staff and student wellbeing, can be an effective tool if used properly which will help governors, leaders and other staff ensure the successful delivery of the school’s vision.
